The Bund (Chinese: 外滩; pinyin: Wàitān; "Outer Bank") is a waterfront district in the center of Shanghai, China. The area is located at the center of a section of Zhongshan Street within the former Shanghai International Settlement, which runs along the west bank (Puxi) of the Huangpu River in the east of Huangpu district. Opposite it are the modern skyscrapers of Lujiazui in the Pudong district along the river. The Bund is often used for buildings and docks on this section of road, but also for adjacent areas. The Bund is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Shanghai. The heights of buildings in the area are limited by law.
